Hi, I’m Mel,

Hi I’m Mel, and I am a naturally tidy and well organised person. I love my to do lists and have an organised home with everything in its place. I’m a mum to a daughter who has grown up into a lovely young lady, and I have a partner who is my rock.

While working for the Statistics Office in Newport for 30 years I  obtained a vast amount of knowledge and skills including project management, planning, organising, listening, and coaching to name just a few – these have all been invaluable to my new career.

When I lost my dad, I became consumed in his belongings. He was a retailer and had to close suddenly due to his health, but he kept a lot of his belongings from the shop hoping that he could continue selling through other avenues, however, this never happened. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, so his estate was extremely full!

A few years ago, I took the opportunity for early redundancy to  help support my family during illness.

“I am naturally a tidy and well organised person”.

My service is tailored to decluttering your home, life, and mind, so you can live a simplified life with less clutter.

I love tidying and organising - not only do I find tackling clutter satisfying, but I also enjoy helping other people experience the benefits of living with less clutter and more order in their lives.

Whether you are looking to downsize, move house, declutter and organise your paperwork, revamp your wardrobe, kitchen, a room or whole house, I can help.

“I offer a friendly, confidential, non-judgemental personal service with bespoke advice along with positive support to guide you through the process and help you enjoy your space again.”

It was during this period that I started volunteering for the Attic Project after deciding that I wanted to help people and give something back to society – its a charity that supports older people organise their personal possessions so that they can live as independently as possible.

I participated in numerous training courses, including decluttering, hoarding, mental health, and reminiscence recording. I can’t explain how satisfying this was to me and how happy my clients were. I took this a step further and my small business ‘Declutter with Mel - Decluttering & Organising Service’ was born.

I love it when my clients say things like, ‘there it is, I’ve been looking for that!’ ‘Oh my god I haven’t seen that for years’, ‘I can’t stop walking into the room and smiling’, ‘Mel you’re amazing’. The feedback has been incredibly positive, and this makes going to work extremely rewarding and fulfilling.

I am also proud to be a member of ‘The Senior Move Partnership’ where I am a senior move manager.

The role involves assisting older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of relocation and/or ‘ageing in place’. We address all aspects of the move process, from space planning in the beginning, to sorting and downsizing belongings, to post-move support and advocacy – helping to minimise the chaos and stress associated with moving in later life.
